Terms of Service
Effective July 15, 2026
These terms govern access to CensusOS. By using the service, you agree to them. If you use CensusOS for an organization, you represent that you can accept these terms for that organization.
Beta service
CensusOS is under active development. Features, datasets, limits, availability, and plan access may change. We may suspend or discontinue beta functionality and cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Accounts
You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials secure, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account. Access is personal unless a team plan expressly permits sharing.
Data and output limitations
CensusOS combines public and licensed sources that may be incomplete, estimated, outdated, or geometrically inconsistent. ACS values are estimates and may have margins of error. Election, boundary, environmental, and derived values may contain source or processing errors. Always preserve citations and verify consequential conclusions against authoritative source documentation.
CensusOS is not legal, financial, surveying, engineering, emergency, eligibility, voting, or policy advice. Do not use it as the sole basis for decisions affecting rights, benefits, safety, district legality, or regulated obligations.
Permitted and prohibited use
You may use CensusOS and its exports for lawful research, analysis, communication, and commercial work only to the extent allowed by your plan and each underlying source license. You may not bypass access controls, share restricted data, overload or scrape the service, introduce malicious code, misrepresent outputs as official government determinations, or use CensusOS to violate privacy, intellectual-property, or other rights.
Ownership and third-party rights
CensusOS software, branding, interface, and original product materials remain the property of their respective owner. Underlying datasets, maps, libraries, and basemaps remain subject to their original licenses and attribution requirements. Your right to use an export does not grant ownership of third-party data.
Paid services
Paid access is currently invite-only. If paid subscriptions are activated, prices, billing intervals, renewal, cancellation, and included limits will be shown before purchase. Except where law requires otherwise or an order states otherwise, fees are nonrefundable and cancellation stops future renewal rather than retroactively refunding the current period.
Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CensusOS is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness, merchantability, noninfringement, availability, or results. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CensusOS and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages. Aggregate liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid for CensusOS during the 12 months before the claim.
Termination and changes
We may restrict access for security, abuse, legal, source-license, or operational reasons. You may stop using CensusOS and delete your account at any time. Material term changes will be reflected by a revised effective date.
