Privacy Policy

Effective July 15, 2026

This policy explains how CensusOS handles information when you visit censusos.org, create an account, use Map Studio, generate reports, or contact us.

Information we collect

  • Account information, including email address, authentication provider, optional display name, optional ZIP code, confirmation status, and plan/access status.
  • Content you deliberately submit, such as feedback, support messages, and saved account projects when those features are enabled.
  • Technical and security information processed by our hosting and authentication providers, such as request timestamps, browser/device information, security events, and approximate network information.
  • Limited client error information, including the error message, app page, software release, and browser user agent. CensusOS does not intentionally include map selections or form contents in automatic error reports.

Browser storage

CensusOS uses browser storage for preferences, saved local views, UI state, and other device-local features. Authentication refresh credentials are kept in secure, HttpOnly cookies rather than localStorage. Clearing browser data may remove local-only projects or preferences.

How information is used

We use information to authenticate users, provide plan-based access, operate and secure the service, respond to requests, diagnose failures, improve performance and accessibility, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

Cloudflare provides hosting, object storage, traffic delivery, and security. Supabase provides authentication and account data storage. Email delivery providers may process account confirmation and password-reset messages. If payments are introduced later, the payment provider will process payment details under its own policy; CensusOS does not currently collect card details.

Retention and deletion

Account information is retained while the account is active and as reasonably necessary for security, legal, and operational purposes. Signed-in users can download their account data and request permanent account deletion from the Account panel. Some security logs and backups may persist for a limited period after deletion.

Security

We use access controls, encrypted transport, least-privilege database policies, secure cookies, and hosted security services. No system is completely secure, especially during beta. Report suspected security issues to the contact address below and do not include sensitive data in feedback forms.

Children and changes

CensusOS is not directed to children under 13. We may revise this policy as the product changes; the effective date above will be updated for material revisions.
